| IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT |
On October 1st 2010, the Dearborn YMCA’s chapter of Black Achievers was awarded a $15,000.00 grant by through the Sam’s Club Giving Made Simple Grant. This grant was awarded to 60 YMCA’s across the country to bolster their Achiever and College Readiness programs. The Dearborn YMCA was on of only two in the entire state of Alabama to receive this honor. Thanks to Sam’s Club, the Dearborn Achievers have toured the following institutions of higher learning; Auburn University, Tuskegee University, the University of Alabama at Birmingham, Miles College, the University of South Alabama, Xavier University (New Orleans), Harvard University, and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

The Dearborn YMCA strives to be the top service provider in the Mobile area with activities for the entire family. Dearborn YMCA’s Child Development program takes children out of a daycare setting and introduces them to the fundamentals to start their educational careers. Parents take pride in Dearborn’s After-School Care and Summer Camp programs, knowing that their children are in a safe, nurturing environment enjoying tutoring, basketball, swimming, and other educational and recreational activities in the Mobile area.
For young adults whose educational careers have been interrupted, Dearborn’s GED program, Pathway to Employment, provides GED courses and work readiness training. Adult members take advantage of the numerous programs and activities the Dearborn YMCA has to offer through family memberships. Along with fun events and outings for the children, families can also enjoy fitness memberships. Completing the family tree, the Senior Activities for Independent Living (S.A.I.L.) program, one of the largest in the State of Alabama, continues its proven success in providing senior activities and assistance in the Mobile area.
