Our Programs

Child Development Program

The Dearborn YMCA Child Development Program provides an early learning experience for young children; developing their cognitive, language, physical, emotional, and social skills; preparing them for kindergarten and for long-term educational success. Nutritious breakfasts, lunches and snacks are provided daily.

First Class Pre-K Program

Office of School Readiness First Class Pre-K Program is designed for children of four years of age and uses degreed child development teachers to deliver its program. Children learn through active exploration of their environment with a balance of child-initiated and teacher-selected activities. Families and teachers are partners in each child’s education. Teachers use a variety of strategies to scaffold children’s learning and development, and assessments are used with young children to plan and implement experiences that facilitate learning.

Early Head Start

The Early Head Start Program is a Child Development Program for children 6 wks - 3 years of age. The program design is to help lay the foundation for educational success. The idea is to help children with their physical, social, emotional, language, as well as their cognitive and reasoning skills. This Early Head Start program also addresses health and home issues by providing home health screening and home visits for all participants and any other children in the household.

Before & After-School Academy

Our after-school program brings together physical activity, study time and a safe, supportive environment to help young people succeed in school, at home and throughout their lives.

The After-School Academy serves children of working parents from the time school is out each day until parents arrive to pick them up in the evening. During that time, the program works to mold and shape elementary and middle school aged children through tutoring, leadership & character development, mentoring and recreational programs.

Summer Camp Program

Our Summer Camp welcomes all kids to discover who they are and imagine who they can be, with programs that foster lifelong skills, build self-confidence and create lasting friendships.

Our Summer Camp Program insures that children have a safe place to stay during the summer months. This program combines summer fun and learning, insuring that children do not lose what they have learned during the months away from school and that they are prepared and ready for the next academic year.

Pathway to Employment Program

The Pathway to Employment Program offers young adults, ages 17 -24, whose educational careers have been interrupted, the opportunity to earn their GED or alternative diploma, participate in work readiness training, and prepare to enter the workforce or post-secondary educational settings. Various incentives are offered including childcare, stipends, gift cards, transportation, field trips, etc.
